When I think of Tiersen’s music, I think of the word ‘eclectic.’ Just the mixture of instruments he uses, and the sounds, it’s kinda quirky. His Amelie score is one of my favorite scores, hitting all the right notes of romance and poignancy. He also did a decent score for Goodbye, Lenin. I’ve not heard any of his other works, though, outside of those two films, but even so … he remains, to me, one of those distinct composers that I’d almost certainly recognize just by the style of his work. And in a crowded art world, if you can stand apart like that on your own merit … that’s pretty impressive.
