I really like that Untitled picture, behind the curtain, it seems … it’s almost an allusion to Renaissance art, when they’d have figures of nudes in the homes, and have curtains in front of them that were only drawn back with acceptable or special company was in the house. It makes it seem like the photograph behind the curtain is somehow forbidden or even titillating, even if it in no way truly is … I think playing with perceptions is something that one can exploit a lot with photography, and it’s rare, at least from what I’ve seen … to see photography make allusions to painting.
